Ohio vote tests abortion question one year ahead of 2024 race

Ohio voters will decide on Tuesday whether to add explicit protections for abortion rights to the state's constitution. The referendum will determine whether the constitution guarantees the freedom to make reproductive decisions, including abortion. The US Supreme Court revoked the national right to abortion last year, leaving it up to individual states to decide. Ohio currently has a law that would ban abortions after a heartbeat is detected, but it is temporarily suspended due to legal challenges.
