Saudi says climate policy should not 'crush' less powerful

IndiaTimes Thursday, 9 November 2023
Saudi Arabia's energy minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, has stated that policies to address climate change should not harm countries struggling with energy poverty. He emphasized the need to assist the 800 million people worldwide who lack reliable access to electricity. While Saudi Arabia aims for net zero emissions by 2060, the country argues that investments in hydrocarbons are necessary for energy stability. Prince Abdulaziz criticized the poor results of financial support provided to countries affected by climate change and suggested a bilateral approach to climate finance.
