Man arrested in Nebraska in alleged assault of former US senator Martha McSally

A man was arrested for allegedly assaulting former US senator Martha McSally as she jogged along the Missouri River in Council Bluffs, Iowa. McSally fought off the attacker and chased him, but he managed to escape. However, video surveillance and investigative work led to his identification and subsequent arrest. McSally, who had previously disclosed being raped by a superior officer in the Air Force, stated that the assault tapped into past experiences of sexual abuse and assault.
