Russia says it's completing its section of international nuclear test monitoring network
Friday, 17 November 2023 Russia will complete its segment of the international network that monitors for nuclear weapons tests this year, according to the defense ministry. The International Monitoring System, established under the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, detects seismic shocks or radioactivity resulting from nuclear weapons tests. Russia's completion of its segment, with the certification of its 32nd monitoring station on Sakhalin Island, demonstrates its commitment to non-proliferation and nuclear stability.
