A 2-year-old is dead and 8 people are missing after a migrant boat capsized off Italy's Lampedusa

A small boat carrying migrants capsized near the Italian island of Lampedusa, resulting in the death of a 2-year-old girl and leaving eight people missing. The Italian coast guard and local fishermen were able to rescue 43 individuals. Another fishing boat carrying 400 migrants arrived at the port of Lampedusa, bringing the total number of arrivals on Monday to 800. Lampedusa has limited capacity and has struggled to handle the influx of migrants in recent years.
