Nasa spacecraft sends laser-beamed message from beyond Moon

IndiaTimes Sunday, 26 November 2023
Nasa's DSOC experiment achieves 'first light' by beaming a near-infrared laser from a spacecraft in deep space to the Hale Telescope at Caltech's Palomar Observatory. The experiment marks a historic milestone as it demonstrates optical communications from a spacecraft 40 times farther than the Moon is from the Earth. Riding on the Psyche spacecraft, DSOC heralds a new era in spacecraft communication technology. The mission aims to explore the origin of planetary cores by studying the metallic asteroid 16 Psyche.
