Think of what happened to Hong Kong when you vote, Taiwan president says

IndiaTimes Sunday, 3 December 2023
Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen urges voters to consider Hong Kong's situation when voting, emphasizing the need for peace and strengthened defenses. China, which claims Taiwan as its territory, has increased military pressure on the island. The upcoming elections have been framed as a choice between war and peace by China and the opposition Kuomintang (KMT) party. Tsai advocates for dignified peace and highlights the imposition of a national security law in Hong Kong. Strengthening Taiwan's defenses is a priority for Tsai's tenure, a stance supported by presidential candidate Lai Ching-te.
