Israel bombs Gaza as pressure mounts to protect civilians

Israel struck Gaza targets in its war on Hamas. The civilian death toll increased, causing international concern. More than 15,500 people have been killed in the Palestinian territory. Israeli air and artillery strikes hit Gaza, while rockets were launched from Gaza into Israel. The UN reported 160 Palestinian deaths in two incidents. The Israeli army said it had carried out 10,000 air strikes, located more than 800 shafts to Hamas tunnels destroyed 500 Hamas tunnels.
