US sanctions dozens of people worldwide over human rights abuses

The United States imposes sanctions on individuals involved in human rights abuses ahead of Human Rights Day. The Treasury has sanctioned over 150 individuals and entities across countries for human rights abuse. Two Iranian intelligence officers involved in lethal targeting of US officials are listed. Taliban members are sanctioned for their repression of women and girls. Two Chinese officials are cited for human rights abuse in Xinjiang. The US restricts imports from Chinese companies involved in forced labor practices. Leaders of the Islamic State, criminal gangs, and the Uganda Prisons Service are also sanctioned.
