Utah attorney general drops reelection bid amid scrutiny about his ties to a sexual assault suspect

Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes announces that he will not seek reelection in 2024 and instead pledges to investigate the sexual assault allegations against his friend, Tim Ballard, the founder of Operation Underground Railroad. Reyes apologizes to the survivors and vows to spend his last year in office working with them. A bipartisan group of Utah lawmakers initiates an audit of Reyes' office to investigate his ties to Ballard and the use of state resources.
