IndiaTimes Monday, 11 December 2023
A collision occurred between a Philippine boat and a Chinese coast guard ship near Second Thomas Shoal in the Spratly Islands during a Philippine resupply mission. This incident adds to the tensions between the Philippines and China in the disputed South China Sea (SCS). The Philippines accused the Chinese coast guard of obstructing their supply vessels near Scarborough Shoal, while China claims that the Philippine boat deliberately collided with their vessel. The situation escalated as water cannons were used and damages were inflicted on both sides.
