'I apologize for this': Why Putin said sorry to Russians

IndiaTimes Friday, 15 December 2023
Putin apologizes for escalating inflation, specifically the 40% surge in egg prices. The shortage of essential goods and Western trade restrictions have contributed to the skyrocketing costs of eggs and chicken. The price of eggs increased by 13% in October 2023 and another 15% in November 2023. Russia, which exported 1.2 billion eggs in 2022, has faced difficulties in exporting eggs due to sanctions. Russian egg farmers have encountered challenges in accessing veterinary services and medicines for their animals. Putin acknowledges the need for corrective measures and plans to reduce duties on imported eggs.
