Pak to close borders with Afghanistan, Iran ahead of general polls

Pakistan announced to close down its borders with Afghanistan and Iran in order to ensure security during the February 8 general elections. The closure of the borders was announced by Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the spokesperson for the Foreign Office (FO), with the aim of maintaining stability during the polling process. tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have led to frequent closures of border crossings.
