Alabama passes IVF protection law after uproar over court ruling

Alabama's governor signed SB159 into law, providing civil and criminal immunity for death or damage to an embryo in the context of IVF, after fertility clinics halted procedures due to a court ruling by the Alabama Supreme Court. Democratic President Joe Biden criticized the ruling. The University of Alabama at Birmingham plans to resume IVF treatments.
