South Korea dismissed concerns of a "medical catastrophe" amid a nearly three-week strike by junior doctors. However, the government has pledged to improve pay and conditions for medical professionals. Thousands of trainee doctors walked out on February 20 in protest of reforms aimed at addressing doctor shortages by increasing the number of medical students. The doctors argue that they are already overworked and underpaid.
