The NRA Just Made A Surprise Backing To Crack Down On These Gun Provisionsby

The National Rifle Association has always been at the center of national debate when it comes to gun ownership and even use – and with the recent massacre in Las Vegas having brought the controversial topic of ownership and licensing to the fore once again, all eyes have been on either the President or the NRA – and it seems that the Association has been quick to make some surprising movements in order to help protect the lives of innocent civilians in future – though it has little to do with outlawing the right to bear arms outright.

The major issue at stake here is something known as bump stocks – which allow semi-automatic weapons to be able to fire an astonishing 800 rounds every minute maximum. It is weapon adjustments such as these that may have led to the disaster in Las Vegas this past week – where hundreds of lives were changed forever thanks to the actions of a lone gunman whose motives are still incredibly hazy.

The NRA, while protecting US citizens’ rights to bear arms, is acting in the interests of public safety to call for a review on bump stocks being provisioned and allowed outright. The authority is in fact demanding immediate analysis of existing law – and whether or not the existence of such modifications are warranted within federal law. “The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations,” an official statement reads. In fact, President Trump is reportedly in agreement – that such firearm adjustment should be placed under immediate review.

Bump stocks exist to reportedly aid people use semi-automatic guns without having to always use the trigger – they are, essentially, a disability aid – but with around 12 of the Vegas killer’s supposed arsenal reportedly possessing such stocks, it appears a good time to consider reviewing such modifications in order to prevent future tragedies from occurring. Bump stocks are currently allowed and are judged to be legal at a federal level – but whether or not this remains the case after one of the biggest gun killings on US soil remains to be seen. Gun lobbies and those supporting the right to bear arms are already under scrutiny as to what they choose to do next in light of the killings – but the NRA are arguably making the right move to request specific reviews as soon as possible.
