Thailand’s national assembly has invited Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn to become king. He will succeed his father King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who died last month. He is expected to accept, be proclaimed monarch this week, and be crowned at the end of the mourning period for his father. The announcement cures one big headache, but leaves other questions on the table, namely who will be queen consort to the new king? Vajiralongkorn divorced three women and is reportedly single.
