According to a source within his transition team, President-elect Donald Trump has chosen James Mattis as his secretary of defense. The 66-year-old Mattis joins a national security team that includes retired Lt. General Michael Flynn as national security adviser and Kansas Representative Mike Pompeo as CIA director. Mattis, a retired four-star general, who is known as "Mad Dog," has been held in high regard throughout the ranks of the Marine Corps during his 44 years of service.
