Trump's team told CNN Friday, Retired Army Gen. Michael Flynn, President-elect Donald Trump's pick for national security advisor, has been in contact with Russia's ambassador to Washington.
According to a centuries-old law, the Logan Act, any US citizen without official US authority, is forbidden from influencing "disputes or controversies" involving the US and a foreign government.
A December 29 phone call between Flynn and the Ambassador was on the same day that President Barack Obama ordered sanctions on Russia. On that day 35 Russian diplomats and their families were ordered to leave the country. A transition official told CNN that Flynn and Kislyak did not discuss the Russian sanctions.
