Claims that Russia meddled in last year’s US presidential election will be addressed by FBI Director James Comey at a rare public hearing of the Congressional Intelligence Committee on Monday. US spy agencies have said Moscow intervened with the aim of helping Donald Trump win. But Republican Committee Chairman Devin Nunes said on ‘Fox News Sunday’ that he had seen no signs of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign. President Trump has been dogged by claims that his associates had ties to Russian officials. He fired his first national security adviser, Michael Flynn for failing to disclose his contacts with Russia’s ambassador before Trump took office in January. Moscow denies attempting to influence the election. Monday’s hearing is also set to focus on Trump’s unsubstantiated claim that his predecessor Barack Obama, had ordered a wiretap of Trump Tower. Nunes says he has seen no evidence and allegations, repeated by the Trump administration, that a British spy agency carried out the snooping have been vehemently denied in London.
