On Sunday, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said that the UN Security Council has run out of options on containing North Korea’s nuclear program. She added that the United States may have to turn over the situation to the Pentagon. Haley told CNN that “We have pretty much exhausted all the things that we can do at the Security Council at this point." On Thursday council put forth new sanctions on North Korea, banning its textile exports and capping imports of crude oil, after it launched a missile over Japan.
