Another Twitter storm, another clash with the press. US President Donald Trump has denied an NBC News report he contemplated a dramatic increase in the US nuclear arsenal Calling the report fake news, he even threatened to challenge the network’s media licences in reprisal. The dispute revolves around a July meeting at the Pentagon where officials were shown a chart of the US nuclear arsenal peaking in the late 1960s at more than 32,000 weapons Sources in the room told NBC Trump said he wanted the US to have that many. The current number stands at 4,000. “The officials in the room explained to the president that not only are there budget constraints to increasing the size of the nuclear arsenal but there are also treaty obligations” Trump said on Wednesday the US did not need to increase but rather modernise its arsenal so it’s “in tip-top shape.” With all of the Fake News coming out of NBC and the Networks, at what point is it appropriate to challenge their License?
