IPC, CrPC & Evidence Act to be replaced if govt succeeds to get the bills passed | Oneindia News
On August 10, India’s Ministry of Home Affairs introduced three new bills in the Lok Sabha to overhaul India’s criminal laws: Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) of 1973 to be replaced by Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, Indian Penal Code (IPC) of 1860 to be replaced by Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and finally, Indian Evidence Act of 1872 to be replaced by Bharatiya Sakshya Bill, 2023.
As per reports, the country might get new criminal laws, through the three bills that will replace the IPC, CrPC, and the Evidence Act, by the end of this year.
Sources said that the committee tasked with examining it is trying to submit its report before the start of the Winter Session of the Parliament, which usually starts and ends in December.
