‘Absurdity’ not to call China a threat, says ex-Tory leader
Sir Iain Duncan Smith has accused the government of watering down its position on China, saying it is an “absurdity” that ministers will not refer to the state as a threat.
The former Conservative Party leader said: “For some reason we seem to be intent on not upsetting China by not saying anything accusative about them at all.” Report by Buseld.

A Moroccan asylum seeker has been sentenced to life in jail for murder, with a minimum term of 45 years, at Teesside Crown Court. In October last year, 45-year-old Ahmed Alid stabbed Iranian Christian convert Javed Nouri at the house he was sharing with other asylum seekers before looking for more victims in Hartlepool town centre. He then stabbed and killed 70-year-old Terence Carney who was out for his regular early morning walk. Alid told police he had committed his crimes out of “revenge” for Israel killing children in the Palestinian conflict. Report by Jonesia. Rishi Sunak and wife Akshata Murty’s wealth surged from £529m last year to £651m this year. Meanwhile, King Charles’ wealth also grew, rising from £600m last year to £610m this year.
