Morocco Earthquake: Death toll towards 3000 as country tries to come to terms with the devastation

The death toll in the Moroccan earthquake has passed 2,800 people as a limited number of foreign aid and rescue teams joined an intensifying race against time to find any remaining survivors high in the Atlas mountains, where many villages remain inaccessible.

Moroccan authorities said they had “responded favourably” to offers of help from visiting search and rescue teams from Spain, Qatar, Britain and the United Arab Emirates, but they were yet to accept further offers of aid from other countries despite the urgent nature of the disaster – including from France and from Turkey, which experienced a deadly earthquake in February.

Its president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, said it would help “with all means” if its offer was accepted.

Hamas strongly reacts to Biden for linking Gaza cease-fire to hostage release | Details

Hamas criticised US President Joe Biden on Sunday for linking a Gaza cease-fire to the release of Israelis held captive by the Palestinian group. Biden stated on Saturday that a cease-fire in Gaza could occur as soon as “tomorrow” if Hamas released Israelis in its custody. Hamas deemed this stance as a step backward from the outcomes of previous negotiations. They noted that their approval of a proposal, facilitated by mediators from Egypt and Qatar, had been done with the knowledge of the United States. #BidenCeasefire #CeasefireOffer #US #Netanyahu #RafahOffensive #biden #israel #hamas #rafah #hostage #palestine #MiddleEast #usa #IsraelHamasWar #houthis #hezbollah #iran ~HT.178~PR.152~ED.194~GR.121~
