Based on the Republican Party’s reaction to McCarthy’s ouster, you’d think America had suffered a massive terrorist attack.

Republicans pounded lecturns, cursed and screamed about how McCarthy’s departure would plunge America into chaos and ruin the government’s ability to govern—as if things had been working just fine these past nine months.
