The voting for the phase 1 of the Chhattisgarh Assembly Election has begun in the state.
Despite special security arrangements made in the state as certain areas of the state have a Naxal impact, a CRPF jawan was wounded in an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) explosion set off by Naxals in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh soon after the polling began.

Seven Naxalites, including two women, were killed in a clash with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur-Kanker forest border. This encounter, the second major strike within 15 days, occurred during an anti-Naxal operation by the District Reserve Guard and Special Task Force. Weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, were seized. With 88 Naxalites killed this year in Bastar region encounters, the state continues its efforts against insurgency.

Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel lost their lives in an attack by Kuki militants starting from midnight till 2:15 am at Naransena area in Manipur. Imphal: Former CRPF chief & security advisor to Manipur govt Kuldiep Singh says, "...It was a storm kind of condition and it was quite dark. Before the forces retaliated they (militants) fired on camp inmates, and four personnel got serious injuries out of which two succumbed to the injuries. Investigation will be done and we will take action against them. We will not spare them and bring them to the Court of law. They will have to pay for this as per the law of the land... This is the first time that they have attacked the forces, none of the militants of Meiteis or Kukis attacked the forces as the forces are here to maintain peace and that is how we are in the middle of both communities. They call these forces (paramilitary) neutral forces... Earlier, you might have seen that the groups are attacking the national infrastructure like the roads and towers. Now, they are attacking central forces. How can this be tolerated?..."
