On January 26, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles has been admitted to the hospital to undergo treatment for an enlarged prostate.

The King was this morning admitted to a London hospital for scheduled treatment.

His Majesty would like to thank all those who have sent their good wishes over the past week, Buckingham Palace statement, via 'LA Times'.

'LA Times' reports that the 75-year-old monarch was taken to the London Clinic private hospital, where he will undergo a procedure to treat his prostate.

It is unclear how long the king will remain in the hospital.

.

Last week, Charles' daughter-in-law, Catherine, the Princess of Wales, was admitted to the same private hospital to undergo a planned abdominal surgery.

The king reportedly visited his daughter-in-law in the hospital prior to starting his own scheduled treatment.

.

The "corrective procedure" for the king's enlarged prostate was first announced by Buckingham Palace last week.

On January 17, Charles was diagnosed with a benign condition after going in for a checkup due to symptoms he was experiencing.

Prior to the procedure, the king was urged to rest and canceled several engagements.

'LA Times' reports that the king's decision to announce the surgery ahead of time was part of an effort to encourage other men to have their prostates checked.

.

Buckingham Palace released a statement saying the king was “delighted to learn that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public health awareness.’’
