Aslef General Secretary: ‘Never a good time for a strike’
Large parts of the country have no train services because of a fresh strike by drivers in a long-running pay dispute.
Aslef General Secretary, Mick Whelan said that there is “never a good time for a strike,” but insisted that it is right that they are “strategic and tactical” with their industrial action to create an “impact”.

Large parts of the country have no train services because of a fresh strike by drivers in a long-running pay dispute. Members of Aslef at Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern walked out on Friday, mounting picket lines outside stations. The neighbour of a woman who was mauled to death by XL Bully dogs, says she never saw muzzled dogs anywhere on the estate. Aimee Marston said "We've never ever seen an XL Bully. If they were registered, we would have seen muzzled dogs but I've got two ex-racing greyhounds and we walk them all the time and we never ever see muzzled dogs on the estate." The first victims of the infected blood scandal will receive their final compensation payment before the end of the year, minister John Glen has said. In a statement delivered to the House of Commons, Mr Glen said the payments would be exempt from income, capital gains, and inheritance tax.
