"We have seen waiting lists fall for four months in a row that's despite industrial action by junior doctors and we are putting a series of practical measures in place to try to help take the pressure off A&E departments," she added.

A 14-year-old boy killed in a sword attack as he walked to school has been named as Daniel Anjorin. Tributes have been paid to the teenager who has been described as a "much-loved" pupil and a keen footballer.
