Businesses plead for taxpayer aid to be extended in line with Freedom Day delay
Monday, 14 June 2021 Chancellor Rishi Sunak is being urged to dig deep again and maintain taxpayer support for businesses if, as expected, Freedom Day is delayed due to rising coronavirus infection rates.
Protesters have descended upon London’s Parliament Square calling on Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak to make the climate crisis their top priority.The demonstration marks 100 days until the Cop26 summit in Glasgow.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has said the Government "urgently needs to change course" in order to restore faith in the coronavirus self-isolation programme.It comes after Prime Minister Mr Johnson and the Chancellor Mr Sunak were “pinged” by the app after coming into contact with Health Secretary Sajid Javid, who subsequently tested positive for the virus.The pair initially tried to get around the requirement to quarantine by saying they would join a daily workplace testing programme being trialled by the Cabinet Office and No 10.

Vaccine Minister Nadhim Zahawi says Boris Johnson was right to U-turn on his decision to self isolate after coming into contact with Health Secretary Sajid Javid, who has tested positive for Covid.
