Russia's Kherson retreat 'encouraging' - but too soon for conclusions, NATO chief says
Wednesday, 9 November 2022 Russia has "absolutely lost the momentum" in Ukraine but President Vladimir Putin must not be underestimated, the head of the NATO military alliance has told Sky News.
The Chief spokesperson for Russia's Defence Ministry, Igor Konashenkov, says that Russia has completed its withdrawal of forces from the western bank of the Dnipro river, after Moscow said it had made the "difficult decision" to withdraw in the face of Ukrainian advance.
Ukrainian investigators say they are examining 300 cases of tourure in Kherson. They have found cellars where civilians were starved, beaten and given electric shocks during Russia's eight month occupation.

Supporting Ukraine’s bid to join NATO, Czech leader and President re-elect Petr Pavel said that Ukraine should be allowed to join NATO “as soon as the war is over”. On Wednesday, a Moscow court found well-known Russian journalist Alexander Nevzorov guilty of spreading what Russian authorities called "false news" about the Russian army.
