A BSP leader was shot dead by unidentified bike-borne assailants in UP's Kanpur. SSP of Kanpur City, Dinesh Kumar said, "Pintu Sanger was chased by four unknown youth, who opened fire on him as soon as he got out of the car. The police took the injured Pintu Sengar to the hospital where doctors declared him dead."
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati supported central government's announcement that no further expenditure on new scheme except PM Gareeb Kalyan Package and Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan Package and said that it's a welcome step but its benefit should go to poor. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati held BJP and Congress, both parties responsible for prevailing condition of migrant labourers. "BJP and Congress, both share equal responsibility for the current situation of the migrant workers. It would have been better if before announcing the COVID-19 lockdown, migrant workers would have been given some time and facilitated to their native places," said Mayawati.
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Chief Mayawati on May 16 expressed her condolences to the bereaved families of migrant labourers who killed in Uttar Pradesh's Auraiya road accident. She said it's unfortunate that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's directions are not being taken seriously by officers because of which a big accident occurred in Auraiya. She said, "Y'day CM said that labourers who come to UP or pass through state, officers will make arrangements for their food, transit and shelter. It's unfortunate that CM's directions are not being taken seriously by officers because of which a big accident occurred in Auraiya: Mayawati." "I demand Chief Minister to take action against the officers who didn't fulfill their responsibilities. Families of those who were killed or injured in this accident should be provided financial assistance," she added. At least 24 labourers were killed and several injured after the truck they were travelling in, collided with another truck in Auraiya on May 16.
At least 10 children were rescued after child helpline team raided Gaudiya Math Ashram in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar. According to ASP (Rural) Naipal Singh, "On July 09, we received a call on child helpline. We were informed that children living in Gaudiya Mutt Ashram were thrashed. Two people have been arrested and further investigation is underway".
During media brief on July 11, Principal Health Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, Amit Mohan Prasad informed that a total 1,403 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in the state in last 24 hours. "Uttar Pradesh reported 1,403 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking active cases to 11,490. A total of 22,689 patients have recovered and 913 other died due to the disease till date," Amit Mohan Prasad said.
Three-day lockdown by UP government came into force from 10 pm on June 10 to restrict coronavirus spread. Streets and markets of Noida wore a deserted look. Famous Atta Market in sector 18 was also shut. Security has been tightened around to ensure lockdown. Heavy traffic was also witnessed at DND flyway as IDs are being checked. UP has 32,362 confirmed cases with 10,373 active infections.
Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath launched 'Jansankhya Sthirata Pakhwada' on July 11. The scheme was launched on the occasion of World Population Day. The Chief Minister also started new block level labs for COVID-19 tests in the state.
