Amit Shah may take up lynching cases in Eastern Zonal Council meeting
Monday, 21 October 2019 Amit Shah, who will be attending his first meeting of the Eastern Zonal Council, according to officials, has already held discussions with the Western Zonal Council in Goa and Northern Zonal Council at Chandigarh, after taking over in June.
Home Minister Shah on July 12 at tree plantation drive of Central Armed Police Forces in Gurugram praised security forces for their efforts in COVID battle. "India is one of the most populous countries. Everyone thought how will a country like India battle COVID19, there were apprehensions but today the whole world is witnessing how one of the most successful battles against COVID19 has been fought here," said Union Home Minister Amit Shah."In India's battle against COVID19, all of our security forces are playing a huge role, nobody can deny it. Today, I salute these corona warriors. They have proved that they not only know how to fight terrorism but also against COVID with help of people," he further added. Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated in the 'All India Tree Plantation Campaign' run by the Central Armed Police Forces in Gurugram.
On July 11, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed COVID-19 situation in the country in a meeting attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, Member of NITI Aayog, Cabinet Secretary and other senior officials of the central government. PM directed that awareness about COVID should be disseminated widely.
Goa has registered its first death due to COVID-19. 85-year-old person from Morlem who was tested positive, passed away at a hospital on June 22. "An 85-year-old patient with a history of asthma, diabetes, blood pressure passed away today morning. He had tested positive for COVID19," said Goa CM Pramod Sawant.

Goa Tourism Director, Menino D'Souza on June 09 said all hotels in the state which are ready to comply with Centre's guidelines, they have to apply to Department of Tourism and after we see they're complying to all guidelines we'll permit them. He said, "Centre has permitted hotels to open but here all hotels which are ready to comply with guidelines, have to apply to Department of Tourism and after we see they're complying to all guidelines, we'll permit them." "We've opened the website and received almost 30 applications from hotels. We will scrutinise them and after govt takes a call on it, we will allow them to open hotels depending on how they are complying with these guidelines," he added.
Chandigarh Police headquarters has been closed for two days for sanitisation amid coronavirus pandemic. A person working in the education department office has contracted COVID-19. The sale of Chinese goods has gone down in Chandigarh after customers have started demanding Indian products from the shopkeepers. Youth Congress workers staged protest in a unique way against fuel price hike in Chandigarh. Party workers tied a car with rope and dragged it on the roads of the city. They shouted slogans demanding the central government to take steps against rising prices of petrol and diesel. Later, police came and detained the protestors. A Youth Congress worker said, "When in 2013-14, rate of diesel and petrol were between Rs. 45- 50, then for BJP Inflation was 'dayan' but now when rates are shooting up to Rs. 80, inflation is 'darling' for them."
