Khattar reaches Chandigarh, BJP legislative party meet to start shortly
Saturday, 26 October 2019 Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar arrived here from New Delhi on Sunday morning to attend the BJP legislative party meeting, which will be held shortly to elect its leader. After reaching here in a helicopter, he drove straight to his official residence, which is close to the meeting venue.
Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar launched 'Har Sar Helmet' campaign and distributed helmets on July 12. He said, "Students will get a learner license while graduating from college at the age of 18 yrs with basic training on road safety and regulation. Wearing a helmet is important."
Haryana Government has allowed inter-state and inter-district travel from Gurugram-Delhi border from June 01. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on May 31, after the centre issued guidelines allowing inter-state and intra-state movement of goods and persons. Earlier, state Home Minister Anil Vij announced sealing of Delhi-Haryana border due to coronavirus pandemic. The central government is opening up economic activities across country in phased manner with Unlock 1 being in place currently. No economic activity will resume in containment zones except essential services.
Chandigarh Police headquarters has been closed for two days for sanitisation amid coronavirus pandemic. A person working in the education department office has contracted COVID-19. As per the information given by, SP (Headquarters) of Chandigarh Manoj Kumar, the police headquarters and education department's office are adjacent to each other in Sector-9 of Chandigarh. There are total 65 active cases of COVID-19 in Chandigarh.
The sale of Chinese goods has gone down in Chandigarh after customers have started demanding Indian products from the shopkeepers. One of the shopkeeper said, "People are not buying Chinese products now. We are also planning not to sell Chinese items once our existing stock is sold." It happened after Galwan Valley clash between India and China which claimed lives of 20 soldiers.
Youth Congress workers staged protest in a unique way against fuel price hike in Chandigarh. Party workers tied a car with rope and dragged it on the roads of the city. They shouted slogans demanding the central government to take steps against rising prices of petrol and diesel. Later, police came and detained the protestors. A Youth Congress worker said, "When in 2013-14, rate of diesel and petrol were between Rs. 45- 50, then for BJP Inflation was 'dayan' but now when rates are shooting up to Rs. 80, inflation is 'darling' for them."
Chandigarh Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjay Baniwal was felicitated by Muslim clerics for his work amid coronavirus pandemic. The felicitation programme took place in city's Sector 45 on June 12. Chandigarh SSP Nilambari Jagadale was also felicitated by clerics. Burail area mosque management awarded them for their continuous efforts amid COVID-19 outbreak.
After the tragic death of BJP leader Wasim Bari, along with his father and brother at the hands of terrorists, Union Minister Jitendra Singh and BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, met his family in Bandipora at the residence of the late BJP leader. All the leaders paid tribute to Wasim Bari, his father and brother. They also assured the family members of all possible help, and handed over a compensation cheque.
BJP president JP Nadda on July 12 accused the Office of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of having involvement in the state's gold smuggling case. "We can see the heat in CM's office also. He wrote to Prime Minister saying no stone should remain unturned as far as the investigation is concerned. We have a saying 'chor ki daadi mein tinka', it means the office of CM is also involved somewhere," Nadda said while inaugurating district office in Kasargod via video conference in New Delhi.

Around three men who were arrested in connection with Kanpur encounter case were produced before the District Court in Haryana's Faridabad on July 08. They were arrested after a raid was conducted at a house on receiving inputs of presence of Vikas Dubey, main accused in Kanpur encounter case. Earlier today, a man suspected to be history-sheeter Vikas Dubey was also spotted outside a shop in Faridabad, according to police sources. Vikas Dubey is absconding since Kanpur encounter, where 8 cops were killed. Reward on the head of Vikas Dubey has been increased to Rs 5 lakh.
