The B S yediyurappa government in Karnataka will continue in power as the BJP is close to winning 12 of the 15 seats which went to bypolls in Karnataka on December 5. While the Congress has won in two constituencies, one independent supported by the JD(S) managed to defeat the BJP candidate by a huge margin.

EARLY ON MONDAY AS COUNTING BEGAN TO THE 15 ASSEMBLY SEATS ON WHICH THE BYPOLLS WERE HELD IN KARNATAKA, THE BJP LOOKED SET FOR A COMFORTABLE VICTORY. A LITTLE PAST 11 AM, CELEBRATIONS BEGAN IN THE BJP CAMP AS THE PARTY WAS LEADING DECISIVELY IN AT LEAST 10 OF THE 15 SEATS.
