Apologise for sending anti-CAA protesters to jail: Mayawati to UP govt
Sunday, 5 January 2020 "In Uttar Pradesh, especially in Bijnor, Sambhal, Meerut, Muzzafarnagar, Firozabad and other districts, innocent people have been sent to jail for protesting against the CAA/NRC without an investigation. This issue has also been raised by the media and is highly shameful and condemnable," the BSP national president said in a tweet in Hindi.
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati supported central government's announcement that no further expenditure on new scheme except PM Gareeb Kalyan Package and Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan Package and said that it's a welcome step but its benefit should go to poor. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati held BJP and Congress, both parties responsible for prevailing condition of migrant labourers. "BJP and Congress, both share equal responsibility for the current situation of the migrant workers. It would have been better if before announcing the COVID-19 lockdown, migrant workers would have been given some time and facilitated to their native places," said Mayawati.
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Chief Mayawati on May 16 expressed her condolences to the bereaved families of migrant labourers who killed in Uttar Pradesh's Auraiya road accident. She said it's unfortunate that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's directions are not being taken seriously by officers because of which a big accident occurred in Auraiya. She said, "Y'day CM said that labourers who come to UP or pass through state, officers will make arrangements for their food, transit and shelter. It's unfortunate that CM's directions are not being taken seriously by officers because of which a big accident occurred in Auraiya: Mayawati." "I demand Chief Minister to take action against the officers who didn't fulfill their responsibilities. Families of those who were killed or injured in this accident should be provided financial assistance," she added. At least 24 labourers were killed and several injured after the truck they were travelling in, collided with another truck in Auraiya on May 16.
A retired bank manager in Gorakhpur during lockdown painted 40 verses of Hanuman Chalisa. Ravi Dwivedi has depicted each verse on a 3 ft 2 inch long and 2 ft 6 inch broad painting. In a press conference held in Lucknow on July 08, Principal Health Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, Amit Mohan Prasad informed that total 1,196 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in the state in last 24 hours. "In the last 24 hours, 1,196 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported. The active cases in the state stand at 9,980. A total of 20,331 have been discharged after recovering from the disease. The death toll stands at 845," said Amit Mohan Prasad.

Govind Agarwal has started producing PPE kits amid COVID-19 lockdown. He got inspired by the idea of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and moved towards PPE kits production. They are selling a kit at Rs 500. While speaking to ANI, Govind Agarwal said, "Our business had come to a standstill after lockdown. I was inspired by idea of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and moved to PPE production." "We are selling a kit at Rs 500," he added.
Construction of a stadium is in full swing in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal. Area was previously illegally captured by some unidentified people. Around 3,500 MGNREGA labourers will get employment under the project. The stadium will give chance to local youth to excel in sports. Hostel facility will also be available in the stadium.
People gathered at Jhandewalan Temple to offer prayers on June 08. Devotees queue outside Shree Dodda Ganapathi Temple at Basavanagudi to offer prayers. Devotees were also seen offering prayers at Chamunda Temple in Sambhal. Devotees have been asked to not bring offerings to temples so as to curb the spread of COVID-19. Sanitization tunnels have been installed at temple premises to sanitize devotees before entering in temple. Government has allowed reopening of religious places.
