Mayawati calls meeting to decide on Delhi Assembly poll candidates
Wednesday, 15 January 2020 The BSP has already announced to field candidates for all 70 seats in the Delhi elections. According to sources, the meeting will be attended by Delhi in-charge MPs, as well as the leaders of the Delhi Pradesh unit. The party leadership has given charge of completing the primary process of selection of candidates to BSP Rajya Sabha MPs Ashok Siddharth, Rajaram and Vir Singh.
A BSP leader was shot dead by unidentified bike-borne assailants in UP's Kanpur. SSP of Kanpur City, Dinesh Kumar said, "Pintu Sanger was chased by four unknown youth, who opened fire on him as soon as he got out of the car. The police took the injured Pintu Sengar to the hospital where doctors declared him dead."
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati supported central government's announcement that no further expenditure on new scheme except PM Gareeb Kalyan Package and Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan Package and said that it's a welcome step but its benefit should go to poor. "Central Government said there will be no further expenditure on new schemes, except PM Gareeb Kalyan Package and Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan Package. It's a welcome step but its benefit should go to poor, labourers and unemployed people, which isn't happening," said Mayawati,
Delhi Police busted a fake salt manufacturing racket. Police have recovered over 3,000 kg of fake salt and a manufacturing machine from their possession. The police team conducted a raid at a shop and recovered 5 bags each of 50 kg and 1 bag of 13 kg of fake salt from there. Firm owner was apprehended and a criminal case under provisions of Copyright Act has been registered. The arrested accused was examined at length about source of the fake products. It was revealed that a manufacturing unit is running at village Karala. On the tip, the team acted swiftly and conducted raid at the premises and recovered the cache of fake salt and a machine.
India Meteorological Department's senior scientist, RK Jenamani on the weather conditions in Gujarat and Delhi. Jenamani said, "Gujarat will receive very heavy rainfall from July 04 and 05. Delhi will also receive rainfall on July 04." He further predicted heat wave conditions will continue in parts of west Rajasthan. IMD further said, "Heavy rainfall will continue in Mumbai. We have kept 48 hours as rain color. Mumbai is usually prone to floods when there is heavy rainfall therefore we have kept it under monitoring."
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on July 03 met the family of LNJP Hospital's Dr. Aseem Gupta who died due to COVID-19. The CM handed over a compensation amount of Rs 1 crore to his family during his visit. CM Kejriwal said, "Dr. Aseem Gupta was martyred while treating COVID-19 patients. This is a big loss for us. The way doctors, nurses and paramedical staff are saving lives of people and fighting against the virus, they are the biggest hope for people."
The Member of Parliament of Rajya Sabha and senior congress leader, Ahmed Patel hits out at central government over his interrogation in a money laundering case by Enforcement Directorate (ED). "I was asked 128 questions. All questions were based on allegations, they had no underlying proof. I replied to the questions, to their satisfaction. I think it's just about political harassment, it's political vendetta. I don't know under whose pressure they're working," said Patel. The Enforcement Directorate on July 02 questioned senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel in connection with a money laundering case, involving Gujarat-based pharmaceutical company Sterling Biotech. The leader also reacted on the matter where Priyanka Gandhi asked to vacate government allotted accommodation within a month. He said, "You can find out how many Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) people are staying where they're not entitled to, ex-MPs and MPs are living in Type-8 (bungalows). It's a double standard and nothing but political harassment."
The Member of Parliament of Rajya Sabha from the state of Gujarat and senior Congress leader, Ahmed Patel, hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah after Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches at his residence in Delhi. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah's guests (Enforcement Directorate) came, asked me questions, I replied and they left," said Ahmed. "Rather fighting China's intrusion, the government is fighting the opposition," Patel added.
Five political leaders, who had quit the Congress party in Gujarat before the Rajya Sabha elections, on June 27 officially, joined the BJP in state capital Gandhinagar. These five leaders are JV Kakadiya, Jitu Chaudhary, Brijesh Merja, Pradyumansinh Jadeja and Akshay Patel. All the five legislators had also resigned from the state assembly.
BJP Leader Ram Madhav on Manipur government's stability said that the government has been winning elections and it will be stable until 2022. Ram Madhav said, "Today, we are felicitating our newly elected member of Rajya Sabha. It was a grand victory for people of Manipur BJP leadership. We are being asked about stability of Government since 1 year, it is stable and it has been winning elections and will be stable until 2022."
Madhya Pradesh's legislators cast their vote for three Rajya Sabha seats. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also cast his vote in Bhopal. Congress leader and former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath said, "It is very clear that we will win one seat in the Rajya Sabha election."
