Monday, 27 January 2020 Secretaries in the ministries of Health, External Affairs, Civil Aviation, Labour, Defence, I&B and Member-Secretary, National Disaster Management Authority, DG (Armed Forces Medical Services) attended the meeting chaired by Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba on Monday.

Beijing is seeing a surge in coronavirus cases. The Chinese capital has reported its second consecutive day of record new numbers of COVID-19 cases. The recent outbreak has been traced to Xinfadi, a wholesale food market that accounts for 80% of Beijing’s farm produce. Xinfadi is a complex that is 20 times larger than the seafood market in Wuhan where the virus originated. The market has been shuttered and tens of thousands of nearby residents are being tested for the virus.
Beijing has dismissed a Harvard Medical School study of hospital traffic and search engine data that suggested the new coronavirus may already have been spreading in China last August, and scientists said it offered no convincing evidence of when the outbreak began. Libby Hogan reports.
