Maharashtra, TN see highest COVID cases in 24 hrs as nationwide tally approaches 5 lakh

4,841 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Maharashtra on June 25. 192 people lost their lives due to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours. On the plus side, 3,661 people recovered from the coronavirus infection in the western state. The total number of active cases in the state is now 63,342. The total death toll mounted to 6,931. Tamil Nadu has reported highest single-day spike of 3,509 COVID-19 cases and 45 deaths on June 25. 3,390 COVID19 positive cases, 64 deaths and 3328 recoveries reported in Delhi in the last 24 hours. Total number of confirmed cases in Delhi stands at 73,780, including 44,765 recovered/discharged cases and 2429 deaths. Nationwide tally of coronavirus is above 4.8 lakh and is expected to cross 5 lakh cases in next two days. Whereas, the death toll has crossed 15000-mark. 654 new COVID19 positive cases, 533 patients cured/discharged and 15 deaths reported in last 24 hours in Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has invited applications for validation of rapid antigen detection tests for COVID-19 from all manufacturers who have developed such kits.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on July 4 said that the state government didn't stop the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) work during the lockdown. "Several people put PIL and even went to High Court, we reply their also but we didn't stop MGNREGA. There was a time when most number of labourers worked in Chhattisgarh. We paid every labourers within 15 days, and we didn't get any complaint in regards to payment," he said.

In Chhattisgarh's Raigarh two robbers killed ATM cash van driver in a loot incident. A CCTV footage shows that the two robbers speeding off on a bike and pointing pistols at shocked passersby. Raigarh's Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Abhishek Verma said, "Two men on bike came outside the ATM, their faces were covered with white cloth, one of them went inside the ATM and the other one walked up the driver and shot him, killing him on the spot, another person is in injured condition." Police has started the investigation.

The demands included cash payment to them for collection of Tendu leaves. The protestors had walked to the office from Cherpal village, covering 25 km on foot. One of the protestors said, "The Collector told us that we will be given cash within two days. If that doesn't happen we will protest again."
