Friday, 1 May 2020 “We intend to resume economic activities soon. We have appealed to employers to protect workers’ interest and pay their salaries. It is my sincere request to all the migrant workers to stay back and co-operate with us,” Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa said on Friday.
Following the High Court decision clearing the way for the construction of the new Secretariat of Telangana government, the demolition of the old Secretariat complex began in Hyderabad. The demolition process started after the Telangana High Court rebuffed PILs challenging the K Chandrashekar Rao government's decision to build a new secretariat complex. BJP has been opposing the state government's decision on making the new secretariat. The TRS on the other hand has dismissed the criticism, while also accusing the BJP of politicizing the issue.
Aamir, a resident of Asif Nagar in Hyderabad has sought help from Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao after the body of his brother allegedly went missing from a hospital. According to Aamir, his brother was admitted to Gandhi Hospital due to lung infection two days ago. On Thursday, the hospital management informed Aamir's family about his brother's death. However, when he visited the hospital to collect the body, he did not find it there. While speaking in a video, Aamir said, "My brother, Rashid Ali Khan was admitted at Medicure Hospital on June 7. Two days later, he was shifted to Gandhi Hospital as his condition was serious. On June 10, we were informed that he passed away. As soon as we reached the hospital to collect the dead body, we checked 18 dead bodies but did not find my brother's body. I appeal the authorities to help us on acquiring the dead body of my brother." The hospital superintendent has not responded to the matter.
Two died in a landslide at Gurupura in Mangaluru on July 05. A youth and a child lost their lives in the incident. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each for the families of deceased.
Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa performed the 'bhoomi pooja' on June 27 for commencement of construction work of 108-foot-tall Kempegowda statue at Bengaluru airport. bhoomi pooja was performed to commence the work on the 108-foot-tall Kempegowda statue. The statue will be constructed at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. State Congress president DK Shivakumar and former PM HD Devegowda are also present at the event.
Heavy rainfall has been reported in the coastal areas of Bengaluru. Indian Meteorological Department Director, Bengaluru, CS Patil provided fresh updates over current weather situation as well as upcoming weather forecast. He said, "For last 24 hours, coastal districts experienced widespread rainfall of 10 cm. In the next five days, coastal districts are very likely to face isolated rainfall in next five days. North- interior Karnataka is likely to experience heavy rainfall on July 09 and July 10".
Karnataka Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar on July 05 stated that criminal case will be filed against those private hospitals that refuse to admit COVID-19 patients. Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Karnataka has reached 21,549.
The complete lockdown is being observed in Karnataka from July 05 in view of rise in COVID-19 cases. The state government has announced a complete lockdown in the state on all Sundays till August 02. The essential activities allowed during night curfew will be permitted during Sunday lockdown too and marriages already fixed on Sundays also permitted during the period.
