Friday, 22 May 2020 Launching a no-holds-barred attack against the Modi government on Friday over its handling of the Covid crisis, 22 opposition parties accused it of "unabashedly usurping" powers of states and abandoning any pretence of being democratic. The opposition parties asked the Centre to present a revised comprehensive economic package that will be a "true stimulus".

A Surat-based woman has taken upon herself to provide COVID-19 essentials to underprivileged people. Durriya Tapiya will drive a truck from Surat covering 13 states across India to distribute face masks, sanitisers, dustbins, sanitary pads among other essential items to the needy in 4500 underprivileged villages across 13 states. The ride will be known as 'Suraksha Setu Nationwide Truck Ride' and it will begin from 26th January. Durriya is also spreading awareness on Road Safety and Traffic.
A new Congress president will be elected in June 2021, said party leader KC Venugopal after the CWC meeting. ‘The CWC discussed the schedule of Congress president's elections in May-end, proposed by its election authority. All CWC members unanimously requested Congress president that the internal elections should not interfere with the assembly elections,’ KC Venugopal said.
