At OIC meeting, Maldives thwarts Pakistan's attempt to target India
Friday, 22 May 2020 Maldives has called out propaganda against India at the virtual Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting at the United Nations. Maldives Permanent representative to the United Nations, Thilmeeza Hussain, minced no words and said alleging Islamophobia in the context of India would be factually incorrect.

India is supplying COVID-19 vaccines being manufactured in the country to neighbouring countries including Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Myanmar and Bangladesh but has not received any request from Pakistan. Addressing the weekly media briefing, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said there is an interest in accessing vaccines from India, which is the global hub of vaccine production. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had stated that India's vaccine production and delivery capacity will be used for the benefit of all humanity to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. "I am not aware of any request for the supply of Indian-made vaccines to Pakistan on a G2G basis or commercial basis," Srivastava said answering a query. Watch the full video for more details.

India dispatched consignments of SII's Covishield to Myanmar, Seychelles and Mauritius. India is sending Covid-19 vaccines as part of donation program to neighbours and key partners. Bhutan, Maldives, Bangladesh, Nepal were also part of India's initial rollout of vaccines. In addition, India plans to supply vaccine doses to Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. Covishield's commercial supplies to countries having agreements with SII have also begun. Two flights are slated to carry two million doses each to Brazil and Morocco on Friday. India is carrying out vaccine diplomacy under its 'Neighbourhood First' policy. Last week, India launched the world's biggest Covid-19 vaccination drive across the country.
