Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on July 4 said that the state government didn't stop the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) work during the lockdown. "Several people put PIL and even went to High Court, we reply their also but we didn't stop MGNREGA. There was a time when most number of labourers worked in Chhattisgarh. We paid every labourers within 15 days, and we didn't get any complaint in regards to payment," he said.

In Chhattisgarh's Raigarh two robbers killed ATM cash van driver in a loot incident. A CCTV footage shows that the two robbers speeding off on a bike and pointing pistols at shocked passersby. Raigarh's Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Abhishek Verma said, "Two men on bike came outside the ATM, their faces were covered with white cloth, one of them went inside the ATM and the other one walked up the driver and shot him, killing him on the spot, another person is in injured condition." Residents of 50 villages in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur on June 29 broke police barricading to enter collector office with their demands. The demands included cash payment to them for collection of Tendu leaves. The protestors had walked to the office from Cherpal village, covering 25 km on foot. One of the protestors said, "The Collector told us that we will be given cash within two days. If that doesn't happen we will protest again."

Rajesh Tope further said that there is no community spread in the state. He said, "We cannot say that there is community spread because most of the cases that are coming positive right now also, they are from the containment zones or from the quarantine area only. Less than 1% of people were seen positive in the total SWABS or tests which were conducted. But we should take precautions that this does not happen."
