Thursday, 9 July 2020 () ED sleuths began the fourth round of questioning of senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel at his official residence here on Thursday in connection with the Sandesara brothers' bank fraud and money-laundering case, officials said. A three-member team of the federal probe agency reached the Rajya Sabha MP's 23, Mother Teresa Crescent residence in the Lutyens' zone of central Delhi around 11 am.

The Member of Parliament of Rajya Sabha and senior congress leader, Ahmed Patel hits out at central government over his interrogation in a money laundering case by Enforcement Directorate (ED). "I was asked 128 questions. All questions were based on allegations, they had no underlying proof. I replied to the questions, to their satisfaction. I think it's just about political harassment, it's political vendetta. I don't know under whose pressure they're working," said Patel. The Enforcement Directorate on July 02 questioned senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel in connection with a money laundering case, involving Gujarat-based pharmaceutical company Sterling Biotech. The leader also reacted on the matter where Priyanka Gandhi asked to vacate government allotted accommodation within a month. He said, "You can find out how many Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) people are staying where they're not entitled to, ex-MPs and MPs are living in Type-8 (bungalows). It's a double standard and nothing but political harassment."
A team of Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrived at the residence of Congress leader Ahmed Patel in Delhi. They came for questioning Ahmed Patel on June 30 in connection with Sandesara scam. Patel's name was surfaced during investigation against Sandesara Group of Companies in an alleged bank loan fraud case. ED's investigation reveals that Sterling Biotech Ltd (SBL), Sandesara Group and its main promoters namely Nitin Sandesara, Chetan Sandesara, and Deepti Sandesara have cheated more than Rs 14,500 crores to Indian Banks. Not only Ahmed Patel, his son, Faisal Patel, and his son-in-law, Irfan Siddiqui, have been named by a corporate executive being questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection to a money laundering case.
The Member of Parliament of Rajya Sabha from the state of Gujarat and senior Congress leader, Ahmed Patel, hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah after Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches at his residence in Delhi. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah's guests (Enforcement Directorate) came, asked me questions, I replied and they left," said Ahmed. "Rather fighting China's intrusion, the government is fighting the opposition," Patel added.

The total number of cases in the state rises to 3,75,799 including 1,48,601 active cases and 2,13,238 discharged cases. Delhi recorded 11,904 active cases today. Tamil Nadu reported 6,986 new COVID-19 cases and 85 deaths today.
