Israeli team working with DRDO to develop rapid Covid-19 testing to come to India on special plane

In an effort to jointly combat the novel coronavirus, Israel Thursday said it will send to India on board a special flight a research team which has been working with the Indian side to develop a rapid testing kit for Covid-19 which can give a result within 30 seconds.

NITI Aayog member and former Director-General of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Vijay Kumar Saraswat on August 09 hailed the step taken by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to impose import embargo on 101 defence items. "It is a very major initiative of GOI and particularly the Ministry of Defence in line with the announcement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making the country self reliant under Aatmanirbhar Bharat," said VK Saraswat. He added that the list of 101 equipments which have been given today will indicate the capability of the country to manufacture, design and develop. "The initiative taken by the Centre certainly goes a long way in promoting the development, production and indigenizing of the capability which exist in the country today."

Adding on it, he further said we can manufacture around 25,000 ventilators each month if there is a need. We are ready to export them too. He said, "The hospital is equipped with all the facilities for patients free of cost as well as Army personnel will provide their services 24*7. A garbage dumping land was levelled and cleared to build the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel COVID19 Hospital." "The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has manufactured 70 Made in India products so far, to fight against COVID-19. We can manufacture around 25,000 ventilators each month if there is a need."
