If detected early, Covid-19 not incurable: CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan
Tuesday, 28 July 2020 "If it is detected soon, then it is not an incurable disease and is like cold, cough and fever only. The infection becomes dreaded only when it reaches the lungs of the affected person, the 61-year-old BJP leader said. He said if a person develops any symptom of the disease, then he or she should immediately consult a doctor.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday said a senior state IPS officer has been relieved of duties, after a video showing him assaulting his wife went viral on social media. In the video, the officer, Purushottam Sharma is seen thrashing his wife, while the latter is seen resisting the assault. "The officer has been relieved of his duties. Action will be taken against anyone who holds a responsible position, but indulges in illegal activities and taking law into his hands," the chief minister said. While addressing at the inauguration event of various development projects in Madhya Pradesh's Indore on September 26, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jyotiraditya Scindia said, "Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan gave Rs 25,000 under Kanyadaan Yojana, they (Congress) said we will give Rs 51,000. Many marriages happened, a year went by but the money never reached. Those who betray trust of mothers-daughters, they are not unfaithful but traitors," Scindia added.
Compounding alliance troubles for the Bharatiya Janata Party, a leader of the Lok Janshakti Party said that Chirag Paswan is the outfit's Chief Ministerial face for Bihar. The comment was made weeks before the state goes to polls. LJP is a constituent of the National Democratic Alliance which is currently in power in the state. The other members are BJP and the Janata Dal (United), and they have already declared that incumbent CM Nitish Kumar will continue to lead the alliance in the state. The NDA is yet to conclude seat-sharing talks, as well. Bihar will vote in 3 phases to choose MLAs to the 243-seat Assembly. Voting will be held on October 28, November 3 and 7 in the shadow of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Results of the elections will be announced by the Election Commission on November 10, 2020.

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on September 29 accused BJP of defaming Maharashtra and Mumbai Police for their political vendetta ahead of Bihar elections. He further accused the party for misusing Bihar ex-DGP Gupteshwar Pandey for political gains. Deshmukh said, "AIIMS stated that there's no trace of poison in Sushant Rajput's body as per viscera report. A national political party tried to defame Maharashtra and Mumbai Police for political gains ahead of Bihar polls. Bihar ex-DGP Gupteshwar Pandey was also used for political gains."
President of the Bharatiya Janata Party's Maharashtra unit, Chandrakant Patil, shot down rumours of a reunion with former ally Shiv Sena to form the government in Maharashtra. A meeting between ex-Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut had sparked rumours in the state. However, both sides maintained that the meeting was regarding an interview of the BJP leader with Sena's mouthpiece 'Saamna'. Patil said that no political offers were discussed in the meeting. He claimed that the Sena-Congress-NCP alliance was headed for a break-up and elections would follow since BJP would not ally with any of the three parties.
