More than 6.6 lakh samples tested in 24 hours for COVID-19, total tests near 2.1 crore
Tuesday, 4 August 2020 A record 6,61,892 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours across the country, the government said on Tuesday. This takes the cumulative testing to 2,08,64,750 samples and the Tests per Million (TPM) to 15,119, a press release issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

Ahead of their season's opening match against Kings XI Punjab, the head coach of Delhi Capitals Ricky Ponting on September 19 said that IPL 2020 is going to be very different due to COVID-19 pandemic, and so will the preparations of Delhi Capitals. "Certainly it's going to be different, our preparations for playing this IPL is going to be different in anyway. The boys and the whole squad here have been under very strict COVID protocols which is unusual and different. So once we get to play our first game, playing in every stadium will be different there will some challenges there for the boys, but I do think that once the game starts I think we will get support from all around India and certainly in Delhi for the capitals," said Ponting ahead of their first match against Kings XI Punjab.
Two people have been killed and 14 have been left injured after a mass shooting in Rochester, New York state.
The attack happened at a gathering of about 100 people, which police said was breaking Covid-19 restrictions.

With a spike of 93,337 new cases, India's COVID-19 case tally crossed 53-lakh mark on September 19. The total coronavirus case tally stands at 53,08,015 including 10,13,964 active cases. As per Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, so far 42,08,432 people were cured/discharged/migrated. In last 24 hours, 1,247 deaths have been reported, while the total numbers of death from the diseases mount to 85,619. According to IMCR, total samples tested up to 18th September are 6,24, 54, 254 including 8,81,911 samples tested yesterday.
As per the data released by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India on September 18 reported single-day spike of 96,424 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. 1,174 deaths in the same period, pushing the COVID-19 toll in the country to 84,372. India's confirmed cases of coronavirus are now 52,14,678 which include 10,17,754 active infections. More than 41,12,552 people have recovered from the deadly disease. According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 10,06,615 samples were tested on September 17. Cumulative samples tested for COVID-19 till September 17 are 6,15,72,343.
