A mishap occurred during celebration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday in Chennai on September 17. Workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party had collected helium balloons as part of the festivities. However, sparks from fireworks reportedly led to an explosion in the balloons. Over 30 BJP workers were reportedly injured in the incident and had to be rushed to a hospital. Their injuries were minor, as per reports. The BJP observed 'seva saptah' or service week to mark PM Modi's birthday. He turned 70 on September 17 and tweeted that what he wants on his birthday is for people to follow Covid precautions like wearing face masks and following social distancing. Several people suffered burn injuries after hydrogen-filled balloons exploded during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday celebration in Chennai on September 18. A spark from fireworks resulted in explosion of gas-filled balloons. All of the injured persons were rushed to a nearby hospital. The whole incident was recorded on a mobile video.
On the eve of 70th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 70 Gas stoves, loans, and insurance schemes were distributed in slum areas at thousand lights in Chennai. BJP Tamil Nadu general secretary Karu Nagarajan distributed the gas stoves to the needy families. People in this area still cook food on chulha (clay stove).
A male elephant from Mettupalayam forest range, Coimbatore was found dead last evening in jungles of Nilgiris. It was injured and Forest Department had made arrangements to tranquilise him for treatment but the elephant had moved into hilly terrain.The Forest Department said, "It is suspected that the elephant slipped into muddy area due to continuous rain in the area, got injured while slipping and could not get up due to its injured leg. It further slipped down for about 15 feet, in its attempt to get up and ultimately died."
'Seva Saptah' is being celebrated by BJP to mark PM Modi’s birthday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi turns 70 on September 17, 2020. As a part of celebration, 70 NDMC workers were felicitated for their contribution to society. MoS Home Affairs, G Kishan Reddy & Nityanand Rai felicitated the workers in Delhi. In Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore, BJP workers offered a 70-kg laddoo at a temple. The 70-kg laddoo was later distributed among the locals in the area. 'Seva Saptah' or service week is also being observed from September 14 to 20. 'Seva Saptah' Abhiyan was launched by BJP National President JP Nadda on Monday. Party workers will take up social welfare activities as part of the campaign. Activities will include awareness drives on a host of issues.
