Bihar elections: Will firmly stand by Chirag's decisions, says Ram Vilas Paswan amid rift with JD(U)
Friday, 11 September 2020 () Amid the growing rift with NDA partner JD(U) ahead of the Bihar assembly polls, Lok Janshakti Party patron Ram Vilas Paswan on Friday said he will stand firmly with whatever decision his son and LJP chief Chirag Paswan takes on the party's ties.
Bharatiya Janata Party national president Jagat Prakash Nadda virtually addressed the members of the party's Bihar working committee. He made it clear that incumbent Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar of the Janata Dal (United), will lead the alliance which also includes Ram Vilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party. Nadda said that whenever the three parties have jointly fought Bihar elections, they have won. He also addressed party workers about campaigning during the Covid-19 pandemic. He said that BJP workers must reach out to people regarding political issues while ensuring that the former protect themselves. He appealed to workers to hold small meetings and rely on door-to-door campaigning. Bihar is likely to go to polls later this year. It will be the first major election in India amid the ongoing pandemic. Bihar has had over 1.19 lakh Covid cases so far with over 500 deaths. Facing a probe in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, Rhea Chakraborty has now broken her silence over the allegations. She said that she has absolute faith in God and the country's judiciary. Union Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan demanded a CBI probe in Sushant Singh Rajput death case. "There's confrontation between 2 states and no FIR registered yet in Maharashtra. Chirag had spoken to CM Thackeray that there should be CBI probe. All political leaders are demanding for it. It should be handed over to CBI," said Paswan.
After a bridge in Bihar's Goabari village was washed away ahead of its inauguration, Bihar Congress in-charge S Gohil accused the state government of being mired in corruption, adding that the bridge collapse is an evidence of JDU-BJP alliance stealing the treasury. "The BJP-JDU coalition government in Bihar is mired in such corruption that no work is done in the right way. Collapse of bridge which has not been inaugurated shows that BJP-JDU alliance is only stealing the treasury of the people," Gohil added.
JDU leader Harivansh Narayan Singh has been elected as Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman for the second time. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad and several other leaders congratulated the JDU MP on his victory. PM Modi praised the JDU MP and said that he has ensured that the proceedings of the house are conducted impartially. ‘After becoming an MP Harivanshi has always ensured how all MPs can become more dutiful. The journalist inside him has stayed alive. Be it as a journalist or social worker, he has endeared himself to many. We have all seen the manner in which he conducts the House proceedings,’ the Prime Minister said. The Prime Minister added that that Harivansh has made efforts to ensure that productivity and positivity go up in Parliament and added that coming from Bihar, the leader is a torchbearer of democracy.
